PRIVACY POLICY

The Doshisha University Center for Space Symbiosis Research (hereinafter referred to as "the Center") hereby establishes the following Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") regarding the handling of users' personal information in the services provided on this website (hereinafter referred to as "the Service").

Article 1 (Personal Information)

"Personal Information" refers to "personal information" as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information. It refers to information about a living individual that can identify the specific individual through the name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact details, or other descriptions contained in such information, as well as data relating to physical appearance, fingerprints, and voice prints, and information that can identify a specific individual from that information alone, such as the insurer number on a health insurance card (personal identification information).

Article 2 (Method of Collecting Personal Information)

The Center may ask users for personal information such as their name, telephone number, and email address when they register to use the Service.

Article 3 (Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

The purposes for which the Center collects and uses personal information are as follows:

• To provide and operate the Center's services
• To respond to inquiries from users (including identity verification)
• To contact users as necessary, such as for maintenance and important notices
• To allow users to view, change, or delete their own registered information, and to view their usage status
• Purposes incidental to the above purposes of use

Article 4 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

1.The Center will not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining the user's prior consent, except in the following cases. However, this excludes cases permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other laws and regulations.

• When it is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
• When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
• When it is necessary to cooperate with a national government organ, a local government, or a person entrusted thereby in carrying out affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the individual is likely to impede the execution of such affairs
• When the following matters have been notified or publicly announced in advance, and the Center has notified the Personal Information Protection Commission:
• That the purpose of use includes provision to third parties
• The items of data provided to third parties
• The means or method of provision to third parties
• That the provision of personal information to third parties will be discontinued upon the request of the individual
• The method of accepting the individual's request

2.Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in the following cases, the recipient of such information shall not be deemed a third party:

• When the Center entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
• When personal information is provided in connection with the succession of business due to a merger or other reason
• When personal information is used jointly with a specific party, and the user has been notified in advance, or has been placed in a state where they can easily know, of that fact, the items of personal information used jointly, the scope of joint users, the purpose of use by such users, and the name of the person responsible for the management of such personal information

Article 5 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

Users may request the Center to correct, add to, or delete (hereinafter referred to as "correction, etc.") their personal information held by the Center, in accordance with the procedures established by the Center, if such information is incorrect. If the Center receives such a request from a user and determines that it is necessary to comply with the request, the Center shall, without delay, make the correction, etc. of the relevant personal information. When the Center has made a correction, etc. based on the provisions of the preceding paragraph, or has decided not to make a correction, etc., it shall notify the user thereof without delay.
